Victoria, Texas
The centerpiece in Victoria is Riverside Park, a 400-acre preserve bordering the Guadalupe River. It's close to the business district and makes a great picnic spot.
Riverside Park is also a great place to play golf. The 27-hole municipal golf course inside the park is considered one of the best small-town municipal courses in the state ("small town," in this case, meaning a population under 100,000 - Victoria's population, according to the figures most recent at the time of this writing, is around 60,000).
Also inside Riverside Park is The Texas Zoo. This zoo is very small, but it has a hook: it specializes in native Texas animals.
The Nave Museum and McNamara Historical Museum are two museums worth a visit. The Nave displays the art of Royston Nave, a Texas artist of note from the early 20th century, plus traveling displays. The historical museum focuses on Texana and antiques.
Nearby Coleto Creek Reservoir is a great place to go fishing. And Victoria is full of old mansions and historical buildings.

Getting to Victoria
Victoria is located in southeast Texas, about midway between Houston and Corpus Christi and about 110 miles east-southeast of San Antonio. Victoria is close to, but not on, the Gulf Coast. Highway 87 is the road between San Antonio and Victoria, while heading out of Victoria north on Highway 59 leads the driver to Houston.
Continental Connection is the air carrier flying into Victoria Regional Airport. The carrier connects through George Bush International Airport in Houston.
