Texas Water Parks
Texas has some of the best water parks in the U.S. It gets pretty hot here, after all, and what better way to cool off from the summer heat that at one of the great water parks listed below.
Arlington - Hurricane Harbor
Part of Six Flags, but located across the street from the main Six Flags park and with a separate entry fee. Many different thrill rides, kids rides and family sections. Popular attractions include a 7-story-tall freefall slide; plus the Hook's Lagoon interactive family area and the Boogie Beach and Surf Rider areas.
Bedford - Bedford Splash
The Pro-Bowl Spectacular, a top-like tube that allows tubers to spin around before hitting the water, is the top attraction at this small but popular park. There's also a family slide, tiki boat slide, interactive water play structure and more.
Edinburg - Super Splash
This park in the Rio Grande Valley offers 21 rides and attractions over 35 acres. Rides are rated as mild water, moderate thrill and high thrill.
El Paso - Wet 'N Wild
This 25-acre water park offers numerous rides and slides, plus a wave pool, sand volleyball courts and large picnic area.
Houston - Splashtown
Attractively designed water park that appeals to all ages. Splashtown Houston offers approximately 50 slides and other attractions, including thrill rides plus kid-friendly and family rides. Six Flags runs this water park.
Garland - Hawaiian Falls
The Waikiki Wipeout and Pipeline Express tube slides are the top attractions at this Hawaiian-themed water park in the Metroplex. The Kona Kooler river and Hawaiian Halfpipe water slide are also popular.
New Braunfels - Schlitterbahn
Schlitterbahn, German for "slippery road," is situated on the banks of the Comal River and the cool waters of the spring-fed river are incorporated into some of its attractions. Schlitterbahn is considered by many the best water park in America. Tons of slides and rides, varying in speed and thrills to appeal to all ages.
North Richland Hills - NRH2O
Another water park in the Metroplex, NRH2O offers what it calls the world's largest uphill water coaster, the Green Extreme. Also has an "endless river," wave pool and numerous slides and other attractions.
San Antonio - Armadillo Beach (inside Six Flags Fiesta Texas)
This water park is inside of Six Flags Fiesta Texas and admission is included in admission to Fiesta Texas. Body slides and tube slides are the most popular attractions, with the family raft ride a good bet for families.
San Antonio - Lost Lagoon (at Sea World)
Features a wave pool and tube slides, and an activity pool for the younger tots. Has a nice tropical decor and bird aviaries throughout. Price of admission is included in Sea World tickets.
San Antonio - Splashtown
San Antonio's Splashtown is right next to Interstate 35. The Lonestar Luge ride dominates the park at seven stories high and is easy to spot from the highway. A lazy river and wave pool are staples among the 50 rides and attractions offered.
South Padre Island - Schlitterbahn Beach
Thew newest Schlitterbahn is near the Spring Break mecca of South Padre Island on Texas' southern tip. The best of both water worlds: a world-class water park right next to a world-class beach.
