We list Natural Bridge Caverns as "belonging" to both New Braunfels and San Antonio. Most people in the local area consider this a New Braunfels attraction, but in fact the caverns are closer to San Antonio.
Natural Bridge Caverns is named after the natural arch that spans the entryway. The massive underground complex includes natural features with names such as the King's Throne, Jeremy Room, Castle of the White Giants and Sherwood Forest. The living stalactites and stalagmites are mite-y impressive, indeed.
Tours of the North Cavern, along lighted walkways, leave every 30 minutes from the visitor center, and last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. A flashlight tour of more primitive parts of the cave system is also available, as is an Adventure Tour that requires climbing, crawling and rappelling.
Natural Bridge Caverns has regular hours of 9 a.m.-4 p.m., which are extended to 7 p.m. during the summer. The cave system's temperature is a constant 70 degrees and surfaces are wet, so wear slip-resistant shoes.
