Fiesta San Antonio
What is Fiesta San Antonio? It's the biggest party in Texas and one of America's greatest festivals.
Fiesta is a 10-day extravaganza of food, music, carnivals, parades and family fun.
Fiesta began in 1891 and grows bigger every year. There are literally hundreds of Fiesta events all over San Antonio during the celebration, some of which draw a half-million or more people to a single area in a single night.
For visitors, it's a wonderful time to experience the vibrant cultures and friendly people of San Antonio. In addition to all the food, fun and festivals, you're sure to run into such ornately attired Fiesta personalities as King Antonio, El Rey Feo, Miss Fiesta and King Anchovy. If you're lucky, they'll give you a famous Fiesta pin, which you can trade with other festivalgoers, then take home your booty as colorful mementos of your Fiesta experience.
Just don't expect to make it out of town without having a few cascarones cracked over your head!
While the biggest Fiesta San Antonio events, including the major parades, take place Downtown, other events are spread around the city. For convenience, it's best to stay Downtown or on the River Walk. To do so, you'll need to book your room many months in advance.
The 2006 Fiesta takes place April 21-30.
