About the Depot District:
The Depot District is the place to see and be seen in Lubbock, the food and live music hotspot in the city.
This area of Downtown Lubbock, which is bordered by Broadway, 19th Street, I-27 and Texas Avenue, is named for the historic buildings which were renovated and turned into restaurants, clubs, shops and galleries. The best-known of these is the former Ft. Worth & Denver South Plains Railway Depot, which is now the Buddy Holly Center.
The Depot District is also home to a larger-than-life Buddy Holly statue, as well as a Walk of Fame honoring West Texans who made names for themselves in show business (such as Waylon Jennings, Jimmy Dean, Mac Davis and Roy Orbison).
While there are cultural attractions within the Depot District, it is best known for its restaurants, clubs and live music. A list of such establishments, and other Depot District denizens, is available on the depot website.
